Our London Consultant Plastic Surgeon is pleased to offer Profhilo®, a non-surgical, revolutionary approach to skin rejuvenation. Performed by Charlotte Ponsaing, our specialist aesthetic nurse, Profhilo® acts as a hydrator. When injected into the deeper layers of the skin, the treatment can stimulate collagen and elastin, significantly improving skin quality and reducing lines and wrinkles.
What Is Profhilo®?
Profhilo® is a gel made with NAHYCO® technology that can dramatically enhance skin hydration, glow, and lift.* Its solution contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid (HA) on the market. HA is hydrophilic, meaning it draws and holds water from your body in order to hydrate the skin. Once Profhilo® has been injected into the skin’s deep dermis, it starts to spread, resulting in overall hydration and smoothness.
Furthermore, Profhilo® can stimulate the production of four different types of collagen and elastin, producing a secondary effect of skin tightening. Profhilo® does not affect the contours of the face like dermal fillers; rather, it can improve skin quality without adding extra volume.
Who Is a Candidate for Profhilo®?
Profhilo® can benefit men and women who wish to replenish collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in the skin; from the age of 30, these phenomena can rapidly diminish, resulting in signs of ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles, dull skin, and skin laxity. When injected by an experienced provider, Profhilo® can reverse some of these changes. While the treatment is most often utilised for facial rejuvenation, it can also be used on the neck, arms, hands, knees, and décolletage.
Please note that Profhilo® is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, people who have an active immune disease, those who have active skin infections at the planned site of injections, or those who are allergic to hyaluronic acid.
What Can I Expect During My Profhilo® Treatment?
Prior to your first Profhilo® treatment, you will have an initial consultation to discuss your goals. Each treatment session lasts about 30 minutes. Profhilo® is injected just below the skin surface and absorbed within a two-centimetre radius of its injection site; in most cases, the face will need a total of only 10 injection points.
Recovery after Profhilo® is generally very minimal, with no downtime typically needed. After the treatment, you may notice a small amount of swelling or bruising to the targeted areas, but this should last for one or two days at the longest.
For optimal results, you will be advised to avoid wearing makeup for 12 hours following a session. You will also be encouraged not to undergo intensive exercise or use a sauna for 24 hours after treatment, and you should avoid intensive UV exposure for the first few days.
How Long Do the Results of Profhilo® Last?
In most cases, the results of Profhilo® develop gradually over the weeks following treatment. Optimal results are usually expected one month after the second treatment. The effects of Profhilo® typically last for four to six months, depending on your lifestyle. Best results are typically reached with a course of two treatments spaced one month apart; however, some patients with more developed skin laxity may benefit from a third treatment after one month. Alternatively, courses of two treatments every six months or a single treatment every three months can be repeated as needed to maintain effects.
