This 41-year old lady came to see me following a filler complication event. Specifically, she experienced profound panfacial loss of volume and redundant excess facial skin fold following filler dissolution by hyaluronidase. This is a rare but reported event. Although the facial contours (jawline and neck) were not very distorted, the excess skin and volume loss were readily apparent – see photo. She was distraught at the change and suffered serious loss of confidence. She underwent a deep plane facelift to suspend the deep tissues of the face and remove excess redundant skin. At the same time, fat was injected to restore lost volume. Although at the young end of the spectrum for facelift surgery, some patients prefer to have surgery at a time when the change is not very noticeable and to future proof the face i.e. delay the ageing process. Result at 4 months.
