It is true of facial aesthetic surgery that small changes to one particular feature can have a profound impact on the entire facial profile. This example of a chin augmentation is case-in-point.
This young lady was troubled by a weak jawline or so-called ‘chin recession’. There are several ways to address this such as filler and fat grafting – although neither would have delivered enough of a change. Bone reshaping surgery is also an option (genioplasty). After careful discussion, we agreed on an implant-based chin augmentation. In many ways, she is an ideal candidate for an implant – given the shape of her chin (oblique with good vertical height).
A large EA-style implant was placed through a small chin crease incision. At 7 weeks, she was thrilled with the outcome – improving the jawline from all angles, not just the side profile – and with it, her self-confidence.
