What Is Brow Lift Surgery?

Brow lift surgery, also known as a “forehead lift” or “brow reset,” is a cosmetic procedure designed to raise the position of the eyebrows and reduce signs of ageing in the forehead and upper face.* Our London Consultant Plastic Surgeon can use advanced brow lift techniques to allow patients to look dramatically younger and more refreshed.

Quick Facts About Brow Lift Procedures

  • Inpatient/Outpatient: Usually outpatient
  • Potential Benefits: A more youthful, vibrant, “awakened” appearance; a more proportionate forehead; reduction of wrinkles, lines, and creases
  • Procedure Length: Approximately 1-3 hours*
  • Sedation: General anaesthesia
  • Cost: From £5,000 to £8,500

What Are the Benefits of Brow Lift Surgery?

In the hands of an experienced surgeon, this procedure can elevate the brows to restore balance and symmetry to the face. Brow lift surgery can also open up the eye area to create a more refreshed and youthful look, and reduce the appearance of fatigue and tension in the face by addressing a low or heavy brow (or “brow ptosis”).

Moreover, Mr Townley frequently combines brow lift surgery with other procedures for a more optimal rejuvenation. These solutions may include eyelid surgery to combat lateral hooding (which occurs when the forehead skin and muscles are stretched); facelift surgery to rejuvenate both the upper and lower face; and other procedures tailored to meet your individual goals. During your consultation, Mr Townley will speak with you about our various facial enhancement procedures to help you form a personalised treatment plan.

How Is a Brow Lift Performed?

Brow lift surgery is a highly versatile treatment that can be performed using different strategies. The most suitable technique for each patient depends on factors such as the degree of brow ptosis, asymmetry, and signs of facial ageing. After a thorough examination of your individual case, Mr Townley will help you choose the most appropriate brow lift method from the following options:

Endoscopic (“Keyhole”) Brow Lift

In this technique, small incisions are discreetly placed within the hairline, allowing a tiny camera (or “endoscope”) to be inserted to visualise the muscle and tissue. The minimally invasive nature of the procedure typically results in a faster recovery time.

Temporal (“Lateral”) Brow Lift

This technique targets the outer portion of the eyebrows and upper face. Small incisions are made in the temples within the hairline, allowing Mr Townley to lift the brow and smooth out wrinkles. This is the most common procedure, and is often combined with a facelift and neck lift.

Gliding Brow Lift

In this technique, the skin is elevated off the muscle of the forehead through small incisions in the temporal hairline (often just 1-2 cm). The brow position is lifted and then sutured in place with external “quilting sutures.” This technique may be combined with a deep plane facelift, as the surgery can be performed through the upper end of the facelift incision.

Direct Brow Lift

A direct brow lift, often ideal for patients with significant brow ptosis or asymmetry, involves placing incisions just above the eyebrows to lift and reshape the brow area. This is a more common technique in older men with a receding hairline and in patients with profound brow drooping, such as caused by facial paralysis.

Pretrichial Brow Lift

A pretrichial (“hairline”) brow lift involves making an incision along the hairline. This technique is often ideal for patients looking to correct a high forehead while lifting the brow.

How Much Does a Brow Lift Cost?

In most cases, the cost of a brow lift with Mr Townley ranges between £5,000 to £8,500. With this in mind, pricing can vary based on several factors, including the technique used, the complexity of the case, and whether additional procedures are incorporated. At our practice, we aim to provide transparent pricing information and will offer a detailed estimate during your consultation.
