Can Blepharoplasty Get Rid of Dark Under-Eye Circles?
The eyelid region betrays age more than anywhere else in the face, and patients with bags under their eyes are often bothered by the fact that they look tired without feeling tired. Other typical changes associated with ageing involve hooding of the upper eyelid, lengthening of the lower eyelid height, and accentuation of the junction between the cheek and eyelid.
In many cases, patients with these issues can benefit from blepharoplasty (also known as “eyelid surgery”), a surgical procedure designed to remove excess facial skin and redistribute fat. Our London Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Mr William Townley, is highly proficient in eyelid surgery and can use advanced techniques to restore youthful facial contours with natural-looking results.
The procedure is typically performed in an outpatient setting under either local or general anaesthesia. The scars are usually well concealed within natural creases and the eyelid margin. Sometimes, an additional surgery – such as facial fat transfer – is performed at the same time to potentially enhance results. While the surgery does come with inherent risks, any possible complications will be covered in great detail during the consultation process. The scars are often very inconspicuous, which is one of eyelid surgery’s potential benefits.
Blepharoplasty can make a huge difference to patients by making them feel and look much more refreshed. To learn more about this procedure or our other facial rejuvenation options, we invite you to contact our practice.
